We are an approved practice for the training of post-graduate doctors wishing to specialize in General Practice. These GP Registrars are with us for a year and we hope that you will see them as part of the practice team. We also assist in the training of medical students.
There are frequently locum doctors in the practice to cover holidays or partner absences for other reasons. This ensures that there is minimal reduction in the number of appointments available.
PRACTICE NURSES
Sister Victoria Conrad RGN
Senior Practice Nurse.
Responsible for organisation of the Nursing Team.
Sister Jo Richman RGN RM
Sister Lynda Best RGN DN
Sister Lesley Hull RGN
All of our Nurses work part-time. There is a Nurse available from 8.30am to 6pm most weekdays.
We operate a Telephone Triage system, the purpose of which is to allow patients easy access to a specially trained Nurse who in most cases will be able to deal with your problem. She will either give advice, arrange treatment or make an appointment for you to be seen by a Doctor or Nurse as required.
All of our Nurses have attended courses to enable them to specialize in Primary Health care and Chronic Disease Management. In accordance with government guidelines, we review patients with Heart Disease every six months and patients with Diabetes, Asthma and Chronic Lung Disease every 12 months. Please make an appointment to see the Nurse for your check.
The Nurses also provide the following general treatment room services:
- Blood pressure checks
- Cervical smears
- Contraceptive Advice
- Dietary Advice
- Dressings
- Ear Syringing
- ECGs
- Flu Vaccination
- Removal of Stitches
- Tetanus Immunisation
- Travel Vaccinations
We also have two Health Care Assistants who are available by appointment each morning for routine blood tests . These appointments should be booked after discussion with the Doctor or Nurse.
We do not routinely telephone patients if results of investigations are normal. If you would like to know your result, please telephone the surgery after 2pm and the receptionist will tell you if the doctor has seen it. The receptionists are unable to discuss the details of results, but can usually tell you if it is normal. If more discussion is required, please make a routine appointment to see a Doctor.
