Box Surgery

Welcome to Box Surgery

The Firs Surgery, Colerne

Our Mission Statement

"We will encourage people to take responsibility for their own health and well-being whilst treating those who become ill with care, compassion and skill."

Important information about the Coronavirus (COVID-19)

We are currently deploying our clinical, reception and admin teams to the mass vaccination clinics and therefore we have limited availability for appointments. Routine care, such as processing prescriptions, referrals and replying to messages, may take a little longer than usual. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your co-operation during these challenging times.

We are very much open for patient care but in order to help us provide this safely please do not attend the surgery unless you have an appointment.

The clinicians are telephoning patients in the first instance and offering telephone, video appointments or face to face appointment as appropriate.

If you are asked to attend the surgery please wear a face covering.

The main symptoms of Coronavirus are:

  • a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • a loss of, or change to, your sense of smell or taste - this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

If you or someone you live with has any of these symptoms you need to self-isolate. Further advice on what to do can be found here: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

If you have or someone you live with has symptoms of coronavirus you can request a test via www.gov.ukhttps://www.gov.uk/coronavirus

Everyone is being reminded to follow Public Health England advice to:

• Always carry tissues with you and use them to catch your cough or sneeze. Then bin the tissue, and wash your hands, or use a sanitiser gel.

• Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after using public transport. Use a sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available.

• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.

• Avoid close contact with people who are unwell.

Information remains subject to regular change and updates. More information can be found on the NHS website here

As you are aware from Friday 24th July it will be mandatory to wear a face mask while in indoor public places. Box Surgery will not be providing letters to say you are exempt from wearing a face covering. Instead, please use the following links https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/face-coverings-when-to-wear-one-and-how-to-make-your-own/face-coverings-when-to-wear-one-and-how-to-make-your-own     and https://www.keepsafe.org.uk/card to view the government guidelines and a link to a website where you can find exemption cards should you fit the criteria.

Stay Safe.

NHS England: Accessing your GP animation

To support general practice, we have created an animation to help explain to the public how they can continue to access GP services, including how to get in contact, the different ways care may be delivered, and how face-to-face appointments have changed.
