General Practice Data for Planning & Research (GPDPR)

GPDPR is a new way of collecting data held in the GP medical records of patients.  It was developed by NHS Digital on behalf of NHS England.

The collection of GP data is used to support vital health and care planning and research with the focus of finding better treatments and improve patient outcomes for everyone.

Here NHS Digital provide clear information on what data will be accessed, why it will be accessed and the security measures to protect it.  You can also find details on the options to ‘opt-out’ and how to go about this.

Please note, the first phase of data collection will start on 1 July 2021 and therefore you will need to register your ‘opt-out’ wishes prior to 23rd June 2021.
