More Environmentally-Friendly Inhalers

Some inhaler devices contain chemicals called propellants which damage the environment more than others.  We as a practice value sustainability, and have made the decision to support both National and NHS goals in reducing our carbon footprint.  From 1st December 2021 we have made the decision to begin work choosing devices with less environmentally harmful propellants.  As a result, your salbutamol (Ventolin) device will be replaced with the brand Salamol.  Salamol contains the same drug in a smaller volume of propellant; it is used in exactly the same way as your previous brand and is better for our environment.  At your next respiratory review, we may discuss with you the option of trying a dry powder, carbon neutral equivalent of your current inhaler.
