Box Surgery & The Firs Surgery

Appointments

In light of the Coronavirus we have suspended online booking of appointments until further notice.

We are currently running an “on-the-day” telephone triage system where you can request a phone call from a clinician. The Reception Team cannot book face-to-face GP appointments, following your telephone consultation the clinician will decide if a face-to-face appointment is appropriate.

Please do not email the surgery for an appointment, or to speak to a GP. We kindly ask you ring the surgery on 01225 742361.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

How GP Practices are working now

We have been open throughout the pandemic with everyone working hard to continue to provide services. The pandemic is not over and we still need to keep you and our staff safe from the risk of infection. That’s why we are offering different types of appointments such as phone and video consultations, so you don’t have to come into the surgery unless you need to.

Home visits

Home visits are made only to patients who are too ill to come to the surgery. Please help us by making the request before 10am if possible. We can organise our workload more efficiently, especially if you can give us an idea of the nature of the problem. The doctor will telephone to further assess the problem and grade the urgency of the visit. Parents may be asked to bring sick children to the surgery where they will be seen promptly.

Why our Receptionists ask for certain information

To enable our receptionists to book you an appointment with the appropriate person, they are trained to ask you details about why you want to see the GP/Nurse.

If you are able to provide our staff with comprehensive answers to their questions, it will assist them in booking you the correct appointment. It is more time effective for you and for them. You may be directed to the triage nurse, rather than a GP, if they feel that they can deal with your problem more quickly and effectively.

Violence or verbal abuse is completely unacceptable and may result in you being asked to register elsewhere.

Non attendance

If you are unable to attend for your appointment, please could you telephone the surgery on 01225 742361 and let us know. The appointment slot could be offered to another patient.

Every month we have a large amount of clinical time wasted through non attendance.
